BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- One week after breaking a school record for yards in a game, Rohan Davey set a Louisiana State mark for yards in a season.

Davey completed 26-of-37 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns, leading LSU to a 30-14 victory over Middle Tennessee.

The senior raised his 2001 total to 2,659 yards, eclipsing the previous mark of 2,655 set by Tommy Hodson in 1989.

Davey passed for 528 yards in last week's 35-21 victory over Alabama, matching the second-highest total in Southeastern Conference history.

The Tigers jumped to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on LaBrandon Toefield's six-yard TD run and Davey's seven-yard TD pass to Michael Clayton.

Middle Tennessee closed to 13-7 on Wes Counts' five-yard scoring strike to Tyrone Calico with 63 seconds left in the opening period.

But LSU tacked on two touchdowns in the second quarter to open a 27-7 halftime lead. Toefield, who rushed for 83 yards on 22 caries, scored on a two-yard run and Davey found Dominick Davis for a 25-yard TD.

John Corbello kicked a 42-yard field goal for LSU in the third quarter before the Blue Raiders got a meaningless score on Counts' six-yard TD pass to Dwone Hicks with 5:22 left in the contest.

Josh Reed grabbed nine passes for 120 yards for the Tigers. Last week, he establised a pair of SEC records with 19 receptions for 293 yards.

Reed set an LSU mark for receiving yards in a season with 1,311 yards, breaking the Wendell Davis' previous record of 1,227 in 1986.

Counts completed 21-of-29 passes for 171 yards for Middle Tennessee, while Hicks rushed for 117 yards on 16 carries.

LSU was "held" to 463 total yards after recording 611 against the Crimson Tide.
