ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (Ticker) -- Patrick Ramsey passed for 442 yards and three touchdowns -- all to Royde Williams -- as Tulane kept Navy winless with a 42-28 victory.

Ramsey, who completed 36-of-49 passes, tossed TD passes of 10 and 62 yards to Williams in the third quarter to give the Green Wave (3-8) a 35-14 lead.

Tulane stretched its advantage to 42-14 when Lynar Elpheage returned an interception 48 yards for a score with 4:55 to play in the third period.

Tulane jumped to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter on Ramsey's 35-yard TD pass to Williams and scoring runs of 11 and three yards by Mewelde Moore.

Quarterback Brian Madden got Navy (0-8) on the board with a 43-yard TD run with 8:42 left in the period, then scored again on a one-yard run with 24 seconds left to bring the Midshipmen within 21-14 at the intermission.

Madden rushed for 201 yards on 33 carries and completed 10-of-32 passes for 113 yards. But he did get much help, accounting for more than 75 percent of Navy's 413 total yards.

The Midshipmen outrushed Tulane, 300-137. Moore paced the Green Wave on the ground with 131 yards on 22 carries.

The loss spoiled the debut of Navy coach Rick Lantz, who took over on an interim basis on October 8 after Charlie Weatherbie was fired.
