ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- New Mexico posted its third straight win and kept alive hopes for a winning season by rallying for a 27-17 Mountain West Conference victory over Nevada-Las Vegas.

UNLV (3-7, 2-4 MWC) grabbed a 17-14 halftime lead on Dillon Pieffer's 44-yard field goal with 44 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

But the Lobos (5-4, 4-2) responded with 13 unanswered points in the second half, taking a 21-17 lead on Jarrod Baxter's two-yard TD run with 10:06 remaining in the third period.

Vladimir Borombozin accounted for the final margin with field goals of 31 and 40 yards.

The Lobos have not finished with a winning record since capturing the Western Athletic Conference title in 1997 with a 9-4 mark.

Holmon Wiggins rushed for 76 yards on 14 carries for New Mexico, while Baxter gained 63 yards on 15 attempts. Casey Kelley completed just 11-of-26 passes for 140 yards for the Lobos.

Kurt Nantkes completed 12-of-28 passes for 159 yards for the Rebels in his first start, including a 26-yard TD pass to Andrew Dubiellak that gave UNLV a 14-7 lead with 8:47 remaining in the first half.

New Mexico tied it four minutes later on Kelly's one-yard TD run.

Joe Haro paced UNLV on the ground with just 53 yards on 20 carries.
