COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- In a span of 58 seconds Air Force's bowl aspirations might have ended.

Kevin Thomas returned an interception 57 yards and Scott Parkhurst's 21-yard fumble recovery in the third quarter turned a close game into a blowout as UNLV posted a 34-10 Mountain West Conference victory over Air Force.

The Falcons (5-5, 2-4 MWC) dropped their fourth consecutive conference game and need to win their final two games to be bowl eligible.

With the Rebels already up 13-10, Thomas cut in front of receiver Ryan Fleming and raced 57 yards uncontested for his seventh interception of the season, a school record.

On Air Force's ensuing poessesion, linebacker Adam Seward sacked quarterback Keith Boyea, forcing a fumble that Parkhurst scooped up and returned 21 yards to give UNLV a 27-10 lead with 2:20 to play in the third.

The Rebels (4-7, 3-4 MWC) spotted the Falcons a 10-0 lead, but scored 34 unanswered points, starting with Thomas' two-yard run with 11:53 before halftime.

Four minutes later, UNLV took the lead for good on Joe Haro's one-yard run, capping a seven-play 45-yard drive. Haro also added an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter.
