MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- Josh Scobey rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns as Kansas State kept alive its bowl hopes with a 40-7 victory over Louisiana Tech. Scobey, who carried 25 times, scored on TD runs of two and 16 yards in the third quarter, helping the Wildcats (5-5) pull away after struggling to a 12-7 halftime lead. Kansas State tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter on Rock Cartwright's four-yard run and Joe Hall's two-yard scamper. Washington, which suffered a 31-21 loss at Nebraska last week, needs to win next week's finale against Missouri to have a shot at a bowl bid. Louisiana Tech (6-4) played Kansas State tough early, taking a 7-0 lead on Luke McCown's 33-yard TD pass to Allen Stark with 8:15 remaining in the first period. The Wildcats tied it on Ell Roberson's one-yard TD run with 11:11 left in the first half. Kansas State took the lead for good on a safety with 2:55 left in the second quarter and made it 12-7 when Joe Rheem converted a 30-yard field goal as time expired. Roberson completed 6-of-8 passes for 107 yards with an interception. Backup Marc Dunn connected on 9-of-14 for 91 yards and was picked off twice. McCown completed just 16-of-36 passes for 144 yards with a pair of interceptions. The Bulldogs were held to just 31 yards on the ground with Joe Smith rushing for 27 yards on 11 carries. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Louisiana Tech, which averaged 47.1 points during the run.
