CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Ronald Curry tossed three touchdown passes and became his school's all-time leading passer as North Carolina pulled away for a 52-17 romp over intrastate rival Duke in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.

Curry completed 11-of-19 passes for 217 yards as North Carolina (6-5, 5-3 ACC) defeated Duke for the 12th straight time. Curry has 4,871 career passing yards, 188 more than Jason Stanicek had from 1991-94.

North Carolina also dominated on the ground as freshman Jacque Lewis rushed 11 times for 94 yards and Willie Parker gained 66 yards on 10 carries.

Curry opened the scoring with a 72-yard pass to Sam Aiken with 7:52 left in the opening quarter. Freshman Darian Durant played the next series and tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Bosley Allen, giving the Tar Heels a 14-0 lead with 4:43 left in the first quarter.

Chris Douglas had a one-yard plunge to cap an eight-play, 80-yard drive as Duke (0-10, 0-7) closed within, 14-7, with 82 seconds left in the opening quarter.

Curry ran into the end zone from 11 yards out to stretch North Carolina's lead to 21-7, 3:40 into the second quarter. Curry carried 11 times for 29 yards and his 13 career rushing touchdowns are the most ever by a North Carolina quarterback.

Brent Garber kicked a 47-yard field goal with 3:52 left in the second to get the Blue Devils within, 21-10. The Tar Heels regained a 14-point lead when Jeff Reed booted a 39-yard field goal 26 seconds before halftime.

Alexander Wade had a one-yard plunge to trim the deficit to 24-17, 4:46 into the third. But the Tar Heels answered on the following possession as Curry hooked up with Sam Aiken on an 18-yard TD for a 31-17 lead with 6:56 to go in the third.

Kory Bailey's 30-yard touchdown catch made it 38-17 with 4:28 left in the third. The Tar Heels got the ball back three plays later and Lewis broke off a 40-yard run before scoring from 28 yards out to make it 45-17.

Parker had a 14-yard run for the final score with 9:09 left.

Duke, which went 0-11 last season, plays its final game at Clemson on December 1. The Blue Devils' 22-game losing streak is the longest in Division I.
