TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Keylon Kincade picked up the slack for an injured ShanDerrick Charles by rushing for 169 yards and a touchdown as Southern Methodist posted a 24-14 Western Athletic Conference victory over Tulsa. Kincade, who came into the game with just 238 yards, carried 27 times and scored on a 26-yard run that made it 24-7 with 3:24 remaining in the fourth quarter. Charles was hampered after leaving last week's contest against Fresno State midway through the third period with a rib contusion. He carried 13 times for just 33 yards against the Golden Hurricane. In a statistical oddity, Kelan Luker and David Page each completed 4-of-7 passes for 42 yards and an interception for the Mustangs (3-6, 3-4 WAC). SMU opened a 7-0 lead on Charles' four-yard TD run with nine minutes left in the first quarter and made it 14-0 just under four minutes later on a 31-yard interception return by Jonas Rutledge. The Mustangs stretched their lead to 17-0 at the half on Jacob Crowley's 19-yard field goal with 8:02 to go in the second period. Tulsa (1-9, 0-7) closed to 17-7 on Ken Bohanon's one-yard TD run with 4:44 left in the game, but SMU answered just 40 seconds later on Kincade's TD run. Tulsa's Josh Blankenship tossed a two-yard TD pass to Donald Shoals with 1:48 to play. Blankenship completed 12-of-25 passes for 170 yards and an interception. The Golden Hurricane have lost nine straight since a season-opening victory over Division I-AA Indiana State.
