RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Philip Rivers passed for 221 yards and a touchdown as North Carolina State posted a 27-7 victory over Ohio.

Rivers completed 22-of-26 passes for 221 yards for the Wolfpack, who finished the regular season with a 7-4 record in their second year under former Florida State assistant Chuck Amato.

North Carolina State, which nearly upset Maryland last week after becoming the first Atlantic Coast Conference team to win at Florida State the week before, is eligible for the Gator, Peach, Tangerine and Seattle bowls.

The Wolfpack took a 7-0 lead on Ray Robinson's four-yard TD run with 6:32 left in the first quarter beffore Ohio (1-10) tied it on Jamel Patterson's 27-yard TD scamper just over five minutes later.

But N.C. State took the lead for good when Rivers and Jerricho Cotchery combined for a six-yard TD pass with six seconds remaining in the first half.

The Bobcats stayed within a touchdown before the Wolfpack pulled away with 13 points in the fourth period. Adam Kiker kicked a pair of field goals and Olin Hannum scored on a four-yard run. Hannum rushed for 87 yards on 16 carries.

Ohio was held to just 185 total yards. Freddie Ray completed 6-of-14 passes for only 52 yards.

The Bobcats ended the season with a six-game losing streak.
