EL PASO, Texas (Ticker) -- Chance Kretschmer ended a stellar freshman season by rushing for school records of 327 yards and six touchdowns as Nevada posted a 48-31 Western Athletic Conference victory over Texas-El Paso. Kretschmer concluded the campaign with 1,732 rushing yards rushing and 15 touchdowns, also school marks. The Wolf Pack (3-8, 3-5 WAC) trailed, 17-14, at halftime, but got three straight touchdowns from Kretschmer to take the lead for good, 33-14. He reeled off scoring runs of three, 48 and 11 yards during that stretch. David Neill tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Erik Streelman, then found Streelmann for the conversion pass to give Nevada a 41-17 cushion with 11 seconds left in the third quarter. After Howard Jackson returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, Texas-El Paso (2-9, 1-7) closed within 41-31 on a two-yard touchdown pass from Wesley Phillips to Justin Hunt with 6:19 remaining. But Kretschmer, who set another Nevada single-game record with 45 carries, sealed the victory with a nine-yard TD run with 2:18 left to play. Nevada, which snapped a 10-game road losing streak, racked up 421 yards rushing and 528 yards of total offense. Neill rushed for 78 yards on eight carries. Phillips completed 17-of-25 shots for 217 yards for the Miners, who were penalized 10 times for 88 yards and ended the season on a seven-game losing streak.
