CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Gino Guidugli passed for 218 yards and three touchdowns and Ray Jackson accounted for three scores as Cincinnati pounded Louisiana-Monroe, 42-10. Already eligible for one of Conference USA's four postseason berths, the Bearcats (7-4) moved within one win of matching their best record over the past eight years. Cincinnati last went 8-4 in 1997, defeating Utah State in the Humanitarian Bowl for its only postseason victory in two tries since 1949. It looks like the Bearcats will face a Mid-American Conference team in the postseason -- either Marshall in the GMAC/Mobile Alabama Bowl on December 19 or Toledo in the Motor City Bowl on December 29. Guidugli helped Cincinnati become bowl eligible last week by throwing for a career-high 348 yards in a 36-34 win over Memphis. He completed 17-of-30 passes Saturday. The Bearcats built a 28-0 lead in the opening 15 1/2 minutes as Guidugli threw TD passes of 13 and seven yards to Jon Olinger and a 24-yarder to Jackson. Jackson also scored on a one-yard plunge in the first quarter and a two-yard run in the third. He finished with 49 yards on 14 carries and three receptions for 40 yards. Andre Vige completed only 8-of-21 passes for 100 yards for Louisiana-Monroe (2-9), which has lost 19 of 22 games since the start of 2000 and has had eight straight losing seasons since joining Division I-A.
