TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Freshman Chris Rix threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Florida State completed a disappointing regular season with a 28-17 triumph over Georgia Tech in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup. Rix completed 13-of-24 passes for 219 yards. He has thrown a touchdown pass in each of his 11 games and his 24 touchdown passes this season are eighth on the school's all-time list. The Seminoles have won 10 straight meetings with Georgia Tech since joining the ACC in 1992. Rix will have a chance to improve on his total in the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day. Despite recording their most losses since 1986 and falling out of the polls for the first time in 12 years, the Seminoles (7-4, 6-2 ACC) will face Virginia Tech on January 1. Despite their third loss in four weeks, Georgia Tech (7-5, 4-4) will face Stanford in the Jeep Seattle Bowl on December 27. The Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 lead when Luke Manget converted a 23-yard field goal 5:25 into the second quarter. But Rix found fellow freshman P.K. Sam with a 10-yard scoring strike on the ensuing possesion. Georgia Tech answered with an six-play, 80-yard drive that Joe Burns capped with a one-yard touchdown run. The second half belonged to Florida State, which scored twice in the opening 10:15 of the third quarter. Rix scored from eight yards out before finding Javon Walker with a 47-yard scoring toss. Rix ran for 60 yards and Greg Jones paced the Seminoles attack with 101 yards on 23 carries. Georgia Tech's George Godsey was 25-of-39 for 275 yards.
