COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Scott McBrien threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns and Chris Downs and freshman Josh Allen combined to rush for 152 yards and three scores as Maryland coasted to a 45-3 rout of Eastern Michigan.
The Terapins (2-2) were 8-of-11 on third-down conversions as they bounced back from last week's 37-10 drubbing at the hands of Atlantic Coast Conference-rival Florida State.
McBrien completed 14-of-19 passes, including a 91-yard TD strike to receiver Steve Suter with 11:56 left in the first half that gave Maryland a comfortable 17-0 cushion.
Downs found the end zone on first-half runs of eight and two yards. Allen relieved his fellow running back and capped the scoring on an eight-yard dash with just under 7 1/2 minutes left.
Troy Edwards was picked off twice as the Eagles (1-3) dropped their second all-time contest against the Terapins. Maryland crushed Eastern Michigan last season by 47 points.
Edwards completed 16-of-32 passes for 173 yards for the Eagles, while Ime Akpan rushed for 69 yards on 23 carries.
Eastern Michigan got its only points on Eric Klaban's 41-yard field goal late in the third quarter.
