MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Freshman DeAngelo Williams rushed for 166 yards on just 18 carries, powering Memphis to a 38-10 Conference USA victory over Tulane.
The highlight of Williams' night was an 86-yard TD run that gave Memphis (2-2, 1-1 C-USA) a 31-3 lead with 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
In the Tigers' first four games, Williams has rushed for 401 yards on just 43 carries, an average of more than nine yards per attempt.
Danny Wimprine completed just 11-of-24 passes for 153 yards with a pair of interceptions for Memphis. He tossed a 12-yard TD strike to Taveres Gideon with 5:55 left in the first half to give the Tigers a 21-3 cushion at the intermission.
J.P. Losman completed 21-of-31 passes for 188 yards with a touchdown and interception for Tulane (2-2, 0-2). Mewelde Moore paced the Green Wave on the ground with 63 yards on 18 carries.
Memphis grabbed a 12-11-1 lead in the all-time series.
