TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Gary Love returned a blocked field goal 60 yards for a score on the final play of the first half as Arizona overcame some shaky kicking of its own in a 14-9 victory over North Texas.
Arizona (3-1) missed four field goals, including a 44-yarder by Bobby Gill with 4:58 that gave North Texas (1-4) one more chance. But Arizona later got back the ball and ran out the clock.
Mike Bell scored the first touchdown for Arizona on a 16-yard run with 2:34 left in the second quarter. On the last play of the first half, Arizona blocked the 36-yard attempt of Nick Bazaldua and Love picked up the ball and raced to the end zone for a 14-6 lead.
Arizona's Sean Keel had a 23-yard field goal attempt blocked in the first quarter and missed from 26 yards in the second period and 32 yards in the third.
Bazaldua had a much better game, connecting on field goals of 44, 32 and 31 yards for the Mean Green.
North Texas lost its sixth straight road game despite 299 rushing yards, including 104 by Kevin Galbreath.
Clarence Farmer ran 15 times for 75 yards for the Wildcats. Jason Johnson completed 16-for-27 for 189 yards.
