GREENVILLE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Art Brown scored a career-high four touchdowns and rushed for 161 yards on 27 carries as East Carolina steamrolled Army, 59-24, to remain perfect in Conference USA play.
Brown ran for scores of one and 31 yards and caught a one-yard TD in the first half as the Pirates (2-3, 2-0 C-USA) built a 38-17 halftime advantage. The 5-9 junior tacked on a 17-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter.
Marvin Townes and quarterback Desmond Robinson also scored on the ground for East Carolina, which amassed 244 rushing yards en route to its biggest scoring output since a 62-20 win over Houston on November 11, 2000.
After Army the cut the deficit to 7-3 on a 29-yard field goal by Paul Stelzer 4:15 into the game, the Pirates pulled away on two scores by Brown around a 49-yard TD pass from Paul Troth to Richard Alston.
Troth completed 8-of-13 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
Zac Dahman was 12-of-28 for 155 yards and two interceptions for the Black Knights (0-5, 0-3), who lost their 18th consecutive road game and fell to 0-6 all-time against the Pirates.
