OXFORD, Mississippi (Ticker) -- There was no letdown for Mississippi.
Eli Manning threw for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Vashon Pearson had a pair of short touchdown runs as the Rebels pulled away in the second half for a 52-17 victory over Arkansas State.
Mississippi (5-1) completed the non-conference portion of its schedule and improved to 5-0 at home with a pair of games left. The Rebels stunned Florida here last week but shook off a sluggish start to put away the pesky Indians.
Manning hit Taye Biddle for a 67-yard touchdown pass for a 24-10 lead at halftime. It was his second touchdown after a two-yard toss to Bill Flowers in the first quarter.
Pearson's six-yard TD run capped a nine-play, 72-yard drive to open the second half for the Rebels. Tremaine Turner ran 13 yards for a score and a 38-10 cushion entering the fourth quarter. Pearson's one-yard TD plunge in the fourth made it 52-10.
Arkansas State (4-4) finished with just 264 yards compared to 508 for Ole Miss. Danny Smith rushed for 96 yards and a pair of scores for the Indians.
