NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Sean Lucas' second-quarter interception return broke open a close game and helped lift Tulane to a 35-17 triumph over Conference USA rival Cincinnati.
The Green Wave (4-3, 2-2 Conference USA) led just 9-7 before Lucas intercepted Gino Guidigli and scampered 42 yards for a touchdown with 9:58 to play in the quarter.
J.P. Losman added TD tosses to Tristan Smith and Damarcus Davis to extend Tulane's advantage to 29-10 by halftime. Losman scored from one yard out at 11:36 in the third quarter to give the Green Wave a 25-point lead.
Losman connected on 14-of-23 attempts for 163 yards while Guidigli was 20-of-33 for 245 yards, two TDs and three interceptions before leaving the game with 3:22 to play with an injury. Guidigli was sacked fives times and Losman four.
Cincinnati (2-4, 1-1), which lost for the fourth time in five game, outgained Tulane, 435-255.
Seth Marler, who made three field goals, became Tulane's career scoring leader with 298 points. Brad Palazzo held the record with 287.
