NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- J.P. Losman threw for a career-high 329 yards and a school record-tying five touchdowns as Tulane pulled away from Navy in its homecoming game, 51-30.
Losman's second touchdown pass, a 29-yarder to Nick Narcisse with 4:34 to play in the second quarter, put the Green Wave (6-3) ahead for good, 23-20. He added a two-yard toss to Bobby Hoover with 14 seconds left in the half and an eight-yard pass to Tristan Smith with 8:34 to play in the third quarter to extend Tulane's advantage to 36-20.
Losman was 25-of-35 with one interception for Tulane, which outgained Navy (1-7) through the air, 329-76, and posted its fourth straight victory.
Mewelde Moore rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown to become the Green Wave's all-time leading rusher. He has 3,127 yards in three seasons, surpassing Eddie Price's previuous record of 3,095 yards established from 1946-49.
The Midshipmen had five players rush for at least 50 yards and held a 355-106 advantage on the ground, but nevertheless dropped their seventh consecutive contest since a season-opening win over Southern.
The game was played in Tad Gormley Stadium - the Green Wave's first outdoor home contest since 1974. Tulane normally plays in the Superdome.
