FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Ticker) -- The first meeting between Arkansas and Troy State was utterly forgettable.
Safety Bo Mosley recovers a blocked punt in the end zone and returned an interception for a touchdown as the Razorbacks posted a 23-0 victory over the Trojans in an ugly game for both offenses.
Mosley did more with the football than either offense as Arkansas and Troy State combined for only 267 yards. The Trojans managed just 142 yards of offense and the Razorbacks won despite gaining only 125 - season lows for both teams.
Arkansas (5-3) jumped out to a 7-0 lead with 5:10 left in the first quarter after Tom Crowder blocked Thomas Olmsted's punt in the end zone. Mosley recovered the ball for his first career touchdown.
The junior defensive back did not have to wait long for his second career TD. He intercepted Troy State's Hansell Bearden in the fourth quarter and ran 50 yards to give the Razorbacks a 23-0 cushion with 3:38 to go.
The Razorbacks took a 13-0 lead on Matt Jones' 10-yard touchdown pass to George Wilson in the second quarter and David Carlton extended the lead with a 27-yard field goal in the third.
Jones completed just 7-of-16 passes for 60 yards and ran nine times for 22 yards. Fred Talley, who entered averaging 97.4 yards per game, was held to only 20 yards on 12 carries for Arkansas, which had gained more than 300 yards in five straight games.
Hansell was 8-of-27 for 47 yards and two interceptions. DeWhitt Betterson ran for 52 yards on 16 carries and LeBarron Black carried 16 times for 40 yards as Troy State (3-7) gained just 95 yards on the ground.
