ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Gordon Clinkscale rushed for a pair of touchdowns as Georgia Tech posted a 17-2 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Duke.
Clinkscale ran for only 71 yards on 22 carries, but gave the Yellow Jackets (7-4, 4-4 ACC) the only points they needed on a two-yard TD run with 9:01 left in the first quarter.
He added a four-yard TD scamper with 6:05 remaining in the second period to give Georgia Tech a 17-2 halftime lead. Neither team scored in the second half.
Luke Manget accounted for Georgia Tech's other points with a 32-yard field goal with 18 seconds remaining in the first period.
A.J. Suggs completed 18-of-28 passes for 200 yards for the Yellow Jackets, who are hoping to go to a bowl for a school record-tying sixth consecutive year.
Duke (2-9, 0-7), which suffered its 24th straight conference loss, got its only points on a safety with four minutes left in the first period.
The Blue Devils need to beat North Carolina next week to avoid a third straight winless campaign in the ACC. Their last ACC victory came against Wake Forest on November 13, 1999.
Adam Smith completed just 13-of-33 passes for 146 yards for Duke. He also threw a pair of interceptions and was sacked four times.
Georgia Tech has won eight straight and 12 of the last 13 against Duke to open a 40-29-1 lead in the all-time series.
