Game Recap
Game Summary
9: Number of the last 13 Army-Navy games decided by five points or less.
| Player of the Game |
Brian Broadwater, QB, Navy. In his final game, accounted for 202 total yards and two TDs -- a 45-yard run and a 32-yard pass. |
| CNNSI.com's Analysis |
It looked like Navy had this one under control, but Army never gave up and made a game of it in the closing minutes. Unfortunately, the Black Knights were set back by a questionable officiating call on an onside kick late in the game, then lost their chance for a last-gasp drive when they ran into Navy's kicker on a field-goal attempt. Before all that, Broadwater directed Navy's anachronistic offense with precision, building just enough of a lead for the Navy defense to hold onto.

Game Recap
Game Summary
4: Consecutive MAC championship game wins (and Motor City Bowl appearances) for Marshall.
| Player of the Game |
Byron Leftwich, QB, Marshall. Had a huge day, completing 29 of 45 passes for 358 yards and two TDs. |
| CNNSI.com's Analysis |
Western Michigan couldn't make lightning strike twice. The Broncos became the first MAC team to beat the Herd in Huntington earlier this year, but a suddenly feeble offense kept Western from repeating the feat. Western struggled all day on offense, even before MAC player of the year Robert Sanford went down with an injury. Gary Darnell didn't impress many of his major-conference suitors with a few unusual calls, and the vaunted Broncos defense couldn't handle Leftwich. Another year, another trip to Pontiac for the Herd.

Game Recap
Game Summary
0: Senior classes under Steve Spurrier to graduate without an SEC championship.
| Player of the Game |
Rex Grossman, QB, Florida. The first freshman to win MVP honors in the SEC title game completed 17 of 26 passes for 242 yards and four TDs.
| CNNSI.com's Analysis |
Well, that looked familiar. Auburn had hoped to stuff some bulletin board material down the Gators' throats in this one, but the Tigers fell behind so quickly -- just like last time -- that they didn't have time to worry about such nonsense. Auburn turned the ball over at crucial junctures and could not get the ball to Rudi Johnson enough because it fell into such a hole early. Grossman needed to back up his mouth, and did just that with another brilliant game. Of course, Auburn's woeful tackling provided some help as well.

Game Recap
Game Summary
239: Yards of total offense for Kansas State. |
| Player of the Game |
Trent Smith, TE, Oklahoma. Most reliable receiver for Josh Heupel, with eight catches for 97 yards and a TD. |
| CNNSI.com's Analysis |
The Sooners finally showed that, for one game at least, they're more than just the Heupel show. The senior QB was off most of the night, throwing three interceptions, and the only thing that saved him from an upset was K-State's own offensive trouble. Jonathan Beasley completed only 12 of 28 passes for 106 yards, and the Wildcats never really got their rushing game going. They would have been lost if not for another scintillating punt return TD by Aaron Lockett. Oklahoma might not be the best team in the nation, but the Sooners have done enough to finish undefeated. The Orange Bowl awaits...
