Week One
     Louisville 45 at Louisville, Ky.
     N. Mexico St. 24 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star Dave Ragone, QB, Louisville
Picked up where he left off last year, going 18-of-31 for 272 yards, 3 TDs and 1 interception.
The Skinny New Mexico State, led by RB Kenton Keith (137 yards), rushed for 407 yards and led 24-23 at the half. But two costly fumbles doomed the Aggies, with Louisville's Michael Brown returning the first 81 yards for paydirt, Devon Thomas 87 yards off the other.
The Future Louisville (1-0): Saturday at Kentucky
New Mexico St. (0-1): Saturday at No. 5 Texas

   No. 4
  Nebraska 21
at Lincoln, Neb.
   TCU 7 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star LaMarcus McDonald, LB, TCU
Even in defeat, stole the show with eight tackles, four tackles-for-loss and a sack.
The Skinny The Nebraska Blackshirts stifled TCU's young offense, but the Huskers offense was not its dominant self. Eric Crouch threw for 151 yards but got sacked four times. I-back Thunder Collins, filling in for suspended Dahrran Diedrick, managed 71 yards and 2 TDs.
The Future Nebraska (1-0): Saturday vs. Troy State
TCU (0-1): Saturday at North Texas

   No. 22
   Wisconsin 26
at Madison, Wis.
   Virginia 17 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star Lee Evans, WR, Wisconsin
Speedster hauled in 38- and 78-yard touchdowns in the second half, finishing with 135 yards on four catches.
The Skinny RB Anthony Davis paced the Badgers with 147 yards on 24 carries, but UW didn't pull away until QB Jim Sorgi replaced the hobbled Brooks Bollinger and connected with Evans. The Cavs struggled to move the ball and lost RB Antwoine Womack to a sprained ankle.
The Future Wisconsin (1-0): Saturday at No. 7 Oregon
Virginia (0-1): Saturday vs. Richmond

   BYU 70 at Provo, Utah
   Tulane 35 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star Brandon Doman, QB, BYU
You can't beat this line: 25-of-31 for 278 yards and 3 TDs passing; 115 yards and 1 TD rushing.
The Skinny Gary Crowton couldn't have scripted a better debut as he replaces 29-year staple LaVell Edwards. The Cougars couldn't be stopped offensively, especially on the ground, where Luke Staley (142 yards, three TDs) led a 437-yard day. BYU gained 726 yards overall.
The Future BYU (1-0): Saturday vs. Nevada
Tulane (0-1): Saturday at No. 14 LSU

   No. 3
  Oklahoma 41
at Norman, Okla.

   North Carolina 27
Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star Rocky Calmus, LB, Oklahoma
Led the Sooners' charge to 31-7 and 41-14 with 13 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown.
The Skinny OU feasted off five first-half turnovers, but Nate Hybl (20-of-29, 152 yards) and the offense only produced 286 yards. UNC's defense shut out the Sooners after halftime, and QB Darian Durant produced two fourth-quarter TDs in relief of hapless Ronald Curry (5-of-14).
The Future Oklahoma (1-0): Saturday at Air Force
North Carolina (0-1): Saturday at Maryland

   No. 10
   Georgia Tech 13
at East Rutherford, N.J.
   Syracuse 7 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star Kelly Campbell, WR, Georgia Tech
Accounted for 86 percent of Tech's receiving yards with 193 on 10 catches.
The Skinny Campbell's numbers notwithstanding, Tech's offense had to work for every yard, especially on the ground (2.7-yard average). QB George Godsey (15-of-26, 224 yards) was under constant pressure. But the Jackets registered four sacks and held the Orange to 57 yards rushing.
The Future Georgia Tech (1-0): Saturday vs. The Citadel
Syracuse (0-1): Saturday at No. 8 Tennessee.

Fresno State 24 at Boulder, Colo.
   Colorado 22 Game Recap
Game Summary
The Star David Carr, QB, Fresno State
Finished with only 198 yards, but was 10-of-11 on two first-half scoring drives that put Fresno up 21-7.
The Skinny Carr was money early but would go cold in the second half. CU couldn't capitalize, though. It botched snaps, dropped catches, lost three fumbles (17 Bulldog points) and, with the chance to go ahead late, QB Craig Ochs (31-of-51, 346 yards) got picked in the end zone.
The Future Fresno State (1-0): Sunday vs. No. 11 Oregon State
Colorado (0-1): Saturday vs. No. 24 Colorado State
