No. 1
Miami 61
at Miami
Rutgers 0 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Ken Dorsey, QB, Miami
He threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns before being taken out for the fourth quarter.
The Skinny Torrential rains delayed the start of the game, and it wreaked havoc on both teams in terms of holding on to the ball. Rutgers fumbled the ball eight times, losing possession five times. Miami overcame a slow start and scored TDs on offense, defense and special teams.
The Future Miami (2-0): Saturday vs. Washington
Rutgers (1-1): Saturday vs. California

No. 2
Florida 55
at Gainesville, Fla.
La.-Monroe 6 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Rex Grossman, QB, Florida
After fumbling the first snap of the game, he recovered to pass for 331 yards and three TDs.
The Skinny The Indians took the lead 93 seconds in, and it took nearly 10 minutes for Florida to get their first score. The Gators rolled up 600 yards of offense and the defense allowed just five first downs, but there were a number of small errors that might not go over well next week against Tennessee.
The Future Florida (2-0): Saturday vs. Tennessee
Louisiana Monroe (0-2): Saturday at Cincinnati

No. 3
Oklahoma 37
at Norman, Okla.
North Texas 10 Game recap
Game summary
>
The Star Nate Hybl, QB, Oklahoma
Despite a couple of slip-ups, he had one of his best games, going 28-of-40 for 350 yards and two TDs.
The Skinny The Sooners did roll up 543 yards of offense, but they committed 13 penalties and had a handful of other mistakes they were able to get away with against a lesser North Texas team. Oklahoma missed two field goals, got one field goal blocked and botched a punt.
The Future Oklahoma (3-0): Saturday vs. Tulsa
North Texas (0-2): Saturday at Arkansas

No. 4
Texas 44
at Austin, Texas
North Carolina 14 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Nathan Vasher, DB, Texas
The freshman set a school record with eight punt returns for 153 yards and a 44-yard return for a TD.
The Skinny Mack Brown did in his former team thanks to a strong defense, which held the Tar Heels to 211 total yards, including -5 in the third quarter. The Texas offense was less than sharp with Chris Simms going 17-of-35 for 167 yards.
The Future Texas (2-0): Sept. 22 at Houston
North Carolina (0-3) Saturday at SMU

No. 5
Nebraska 27
at Lincoln, Neb.
No. 17
Notre Dame 10
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Dahrran Diedrick, RB, Nebraska
He rushed for 133 yards and scored two TDs to help the 'Huskers build a big lead early.
The Skinny Nebraska raced out to a quick 17-0 lead in the first quarter and a 27-3 at the half and never looked back. The Irish, who had a record-low eight turnovers last year, gave the ball up four times. Irish QB Matt LoVecchio struggled badly and was benched in the second quarter in favor of Carlyle Holiday before returning in the fourth quarter.
The Future Nebraska (3-0): Saturday at Rice
Notre Dame (0-1): Saturday at Purdue

No. 6
Florida State 29
at Tallahassee, Fla.
UAB 7 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Chris Rix, QB, Florida State
Besides his 246 yards passing, he led the 'Noles with 52 rushing yards, the first QB to do so since Charlie Ward.
The Skinny Florida State aired it out as usual in the first half, but managed just 13 points against a solid Blazers defense. In the second half, the 'Noles changed their game plan and used Rix more as a runner, taking advantage of his mobility and athleticism.
The Future Florida State (2-0): Saturday vs. Georgia Tech
UAB (1-1): Saturday at Pittsburgh

No. 7
Oregon 24
at Eugene, Ore.
Utah 10 Game recap
Game summary
The Man Joey Harrington, QB, Oregon
A solid outing, going 17-of-27 for 220 yards and two TDs to Keenan Howry.
The Skinny Utah actually had a big edge in time of possession (35:44 to 24:16), but Oregon made the most of their time on the field as the total yardage was very similar (377-373 Oregon).
The Future Oregon (2-0): Sept. 22 vs. USC
Utah (1-1): Saturday at Air Force

No. 8
Tennessee 13
at Fayetteville, Ark.
Arkansas 3 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Travis Stephens, RB, Tennessee
The Vols rode him to victory as he carried the ball 41 times for 206 yards and a TD.
The Skinny Defense was the name of the game as both teams struggled through stormy conditions that delayed the contest twice. Tennessee's defense kept the Vols in the game, not allowing Arkansas a first down in the second half. Vols LB Eddie Moore had a late interception that led to Stephens' TD, which sealed the game.
The Future Tennessee (2-0): Saturday at Florida
Arkansas (1-1): Saturday vs. North Texas

No. 9
Virginia Tech 31
at Blacksburg, Va.
W. Michigan 0 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Keith Burnell, RB, Virginia Tech
In his first career start filling in for Lee Suggs, he rushed 21 times for 74 yards and a TD.
The Skinny The Hokies defense and special teams came through again in recording their first shutout in nearly a year. No one has yet to fill in full time for Suggs as Virginia Tech used six backs. It seemed to work as the Hokies rushed for 271 yards.
The Future Virginia Tech (2-0): Sept. 22 at Rutgers
Western Michigan (1-1): Saturday at Michigan

No. 10
Georgia Tech 70
at Annapolis, Md.
Navy 7 Game recap
Game summary
The Star George Godsey, QB, Georgia Tech
Went 8-for-9 for 158 yards and two TDs before being pulled before the end of the first half.
The Skinny Georgia Tech geared up for its showdown with Florida State in a big way by scoring TDs on its first five possessions as well as returning a fumble for a score to open up a 42-0 halftime lead. Navy never had much of a chance as it suffered its worst loss in the program's 121-year history.
The Future Georgia Tech (2-0): Saturday at Florida State
Navy (0-2): Saturday at Northwestern

No. 15
Washington 23
at Seattle
No. 11
Michigan 18
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Omare Lowe, CB, Washington
Changed the game by blocking a field goal that was returned for a score and returning his own pick for a TD.
The Skinny Michigan had control of a defensive struggle until Lowe's heroics in the fourth quarter. That effort overshadowed Michigan WR Marquise Walker, who had a school record 15 catches for 159 yards and two TDs plus a blocked punt that led to a safety. Washington QB Cody Pickett was 13-of-22 for 199 yards in his first start.
The Future Washington (1-0): Saturday at Miami
Michigan (1-1): Saturday vs. Western Michigan

No. 12
Kansas State 10
at Los Angeles
USC 6 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Josh Scobey, RB, Kansas State
He rushed for 165 of K-State's 340 yards on the ground.
The Skinny Bill Snyder finally played a tough nonconference foe on the road, and his team had to battle to give him his 100th career win. USC had chances to come back from a 10-0 deficit, but they missed a field goal and an extra point, and Carson Palmer fumbled the ball away with 2:33 left as the Trojans were driving for the go-ahead score.
The Future Kansas State (1-0): Saturday vs. Louisiana Tech
USC (1-1): Sept. 22 at Oregon

Utah State 14 Game recap
Game summary
The Star LaBrandon Toefield, RB, LSU
After scoring three TDs in the season opener, he rushed for a career-high 183 yards and four TDs, one short of the school record.
The Skinny Toefield appeared to be the only bright spot in the Tigers offense. LSU fumbled six times, losing three of them, and their return game suffered with the loss of Domanick Davis. However, the defense stepped up, holding the Aggies to just 91 rushing yards.
The Future LSU (2-0): Saturday vs. Auburn
Utah State (0-2): Saturday at Fresno State

No. 14
UCLA 41
at Lawrence, Kan.
Kansas 17 Game recap
Game summary
>
The Star DeShaun Foster, RB, UCLA
He carried the load for the Bruins, rushing for 179 yards and a TD.
The Skinny Kansas had the lead early and had a chance to go up 10 before fumbling the ball and allowing the Bruins to roll up 27 consecutive points and cruise to a victory. UCLA QB Corey Paus was efficient, going 10-of-16 for 160 yards with a passing and running TD.
The Future UCLA (2-0): Saturday vs. Arizona State
Kansas (1-1): Saturday vs. Wyoming

No. 16
Northwestern 37
at Las Vegas

UNLV 28
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Zak Kustok, QB, Northwestern
He looked more like NU's Heisman candidate as he ran for three TDs and threw for two more scores.
The Skinny With Rashidi Wheeler on their minds, the Wildcats were flat early but rebounded in the second half, exploiting two UNLV turnovers and a botched punt to set up three TDs. UNLV QB Jason Thomas played much better after a horrible opener, throwing for 304 yards and a pair of long TD passes.
The Future Northwestern (1-0): Saturday vs. Navy
UNLV (0-2): Friday vs. Colorado State

He had 300 all-purpose yards, including a 96-yard kickoff return for a TD to start the second half.
The Skinny Add more seats to the Fresno State bandwagon. After going down 20-10 at halftime, the Bulldogs scored two TDs in the first 2:34 of the second half to go ahead for good. Badgers QB Jim Sorgi did pass for 246 yards and a TD, but was also picked off twice.
The Future Fresno State (3-0): Saturday vs. Utah State
Wisconsin (1-2): Saturday vs. Western Kentucky

No. 20
Clemson 38
at Clemson, S.C.
Wofford 14 Game recap
Game summary
The Star J.J. McKelvey, WR, Clemson
After Roscoe Crosby sprained his knee early, the little-used receiver caught two TD passes.
The Skinny Wofford put up a good fight, as they were actually leading 14-7 in the first quarter and rushed for 189 yards in the first half. However, Clemson took advantage of two Terrier fumbles late in the first half to jump ahead, and then their defense came through in the second half.
The Future Clemson (2-0): Saturday vs. Duke
Wofford (0-1): Saturday vs. Georgia Southern

No. 21
South Carolina 14
at Athens, Ga.
No. 25
Georgia 9
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Brian Scott, WR, South Carolina
Scored the game-winning TD with a 16-yard reception with 1:22 left in the fourth quarter.
The Skinny Georgia's defense was stout for most of the game, except on South Carolina's game-winning drive. The Bulldogs had a number of missed opportunities, including Terrence Edwards' dropped pass in the end zone. Plus, Cory Phillips came in at QB for Georgia but botched a late goal-line drive and threw the game-clinching pick.
The Future South Carolina (2-0): Saturday vs. Bowling Green
Georgia (1-1): Saturday vs. Houston

No. 22
Oregon State 27
at Las Cruces, N.M.
N. Mexico St. 22 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Ken Simonton, RB, Oregon State
After struggling in the season opener, he bounced back, rushing for 169 yards and two TDs.
The Skinny Oregon State saved a little face after getting squashed by Fresno State last week. However, despite racing out to an early 14-0 lead, they could never put away the pesky Aggies until the final minute. The Beavers hurt themselves by racking up 90 yards in penalties in the first half.
The Future Oregon State (1-1): Saturday vs. Montana State
New Mexico State (0-3): Saturday at New Mexico

No. 24
Ohio State 28
at Columbus, Ohio
Akron 14 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Jonathan Wells, RB, Ohio State
He led a strong Buckeyes running attack with 24 carries for 119 yards and two scores.
The Skinny Jim Tressel's debut as Ohio State's coach wasn't as sharp as he would've liked. Wells scored twice and QB Steve Bellisari threw two TD passes, but the Buckeyes fumbled five times, losing two, plus backup QB Scott McMullen had an interception returned for a score.
The Future Ohio State (1-0): Saturday vs. San Diego State
Akron (0-1): Saturday vs. Eastern Michigan
