Week Seven Recaps
Auburn 23 at Auburn, Ala.
No. 1
Florida 20
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Damon Duval, K, Auburn
Decided the game for the third straight week, this time hitting a 44-yarder in a downpour with :10 left.
The Skinny In the season's biggest upset to date, Auburn flustered previously unflappable Florida QB Rex Grossman (27-of-44, 373 yards) into four interceptions. The Gators' defense was solid and forced two fumbles, but QB Daniel Cobb (10-of-22, 125 yards) did just enough to win.
The Future Auburn (5-1): Saturday vs. Louisiana Tech
Florida (5-1): Oct. 27 vs. No. 19 Georgia

No. 2
Miami 49
at Tallahassee, Fla.
No. 14
Florida State 27
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Ed Reed, S, Miami
Picked off two passes, blocked a punt (returned for a TD) and generally vanquished the Seminole receivers.
The Skinny 'Noles QB Chris Rix (13-of-30, 222 yards) never had a chance in FSU's first home loss in a decade, coughing up two fumbles and throwing four picks. Miami's offense ignored the run early and let QB Ken Dorsey (14-of-27, 249 yards, 3 TDs) go to work, yet RB Clinton Portis finished with 122 yards on 17 carries.
The Future Miami (5-0): Oct. 25 vs. West Virginia
Florida State (3-2): Saturday at Virginia

No. 3
Oklahoma 38
at Lawrence, Kan.
Kansas 10 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Jason White, QB, Oklahoma
"Backup" stole show yet again, throwing for 4 TDs and running for 112 yards on 12 carries.
The Skinny The machine that is OU rolled to its 19th straight win with little sign of letting up, holding the Jayhawks to 225 yards -- 118 in the first half -- and forcing three fumbles. The top target for White, surprisingly, was TE Trent Smith, who caught 11 balls for 70 yards and all four TDs.
The Future Oklahoma (6-0): Saturday vs. Baylor
Kansas (2-3): Saturday vs. Missouri

No. 4
Nebraska 48
at Waco, Texas
Baylor 7 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Thunder Collins, RB, Nebraska
Most devastating of the Huskers' four 100-yard rushers, with 13 carries for 165 (12.7 ypc).
The Skinny Torrential rain played a major factor, as the Huskers lost five fumbles. But they also ran for a staggering 641 yards behind Collins, QB Eric Crouch (132 yards, 3 TDs), RB Dahrran Diedrick (137, 1) and FB Judd Davies (113, 2). NU broke open a 14-7 game with four fourth-quarter scores.
The Future Nebraska (7-0): Saturday vs. Texas Tech
Baylor (2-3): Saturday at No. 3 Oklahoma

No. 5
Oregon 48
at Berkeley, Calif.
California 7 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Joey Harrington, QB, Oregon
Nothing eye-popping, but was 13-of-20 for 182 yards and 2 TDs in three quarters' work.
The Skinny Oregon dominated from start to finish, going up 28-0 by halftime and 42-0 after three quarters behind a balanced attack. RB Maurice Morris gained 81 of the Ducks' 264 rushing yards, on 21 carries, and scored two TDs. The bumbling Bears committed five turnovers, and coach Tom Holmoe's demise seems imminent.
The Future Oregon (6-0): Saturday vs. No. 23 Stanford
California (0-5): Saturday at No. 7 UCLA

No. 6
Virginia Tech 34
at Blacksburg, Va.
Boston College 20 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Andre Davis, WR, Virginia Tech Broke the Eagles' backs with big plays, grabbing six balls for 112 yards, including TDs of 34 and 37 yards.
The Skinny Same old story for the Hokies defense, holding BC star William Green to 70 yards on 21 carries, limiting the Eagles to 255 total yards and forcing three fumbles. RB Keith Burnell (19 carries, 111 yards) and QB Grant Noel (16-of-228, 225 yards) staked Tech to a 34-0 lead.
The Future Virginia Tech (6-0): Oct. 27 vs. Syracuse
Boston College (4-2) Saturday vs. Pittsburgh

No. 7
UCLA 35
at Pasadena, Calif.
No. 10
Washington 13
Game recap
Game summary
The Star DeShaun Foster, RB, UCLA
Let's talk Heisman, folks. The numbers: 27 carries, 301 yards (school record) and four TDs (ties record).
The Skinny UCLA got off to a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter, about the last time QB Cory Paus (7-of-14, 100 yards) threw a pass. Foster wore down the Huskies from there. The Bruins' defensive front was dominant, pressuring Washington QB Taylor Barton (20-of-41, 278 yards) and holding the opposition to 19 rushing yards.
The Future UCLA (5-0): Saturday vs. California
Washington (4-1): Saturday vs. Arizona

No. 8
Fresno State 25
at Fort Collins, Colo.
Colorado State 22 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Asen Asparuhov, PK, Fresno State
Forced overtime with a 48-yard field goal as time expired, then booted a 41-yard game-winning kick in overtime.
The Skinny Now it looks like Fresno State just might run the table. Colorado State represented the last true test for the Bulldogs, who do not play a team with a winning record for the remainder of the year. QB David Carr showed his poise once again, directing the game-tying drive with 27 seconds left in regulation.
The Future Fresno State (6-0): Friday (Oct. 19) vs. Boise State
Colorado State (3-3): Saturday vs. UNLV

Arkansas 10 at Little Rock, Ark.
No. 9
South Carolina 7
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Caleb Miller, LB, Arkansas
Helped make life miserable for Gamecocks QB Phil Petty, notching two sacks.
The Skinny In arduous conditions, Petty (11-of-30, 145 yards, 2 TDs) had a horrible day, and backup Corey Jenkins' 41-yard TD run represented S.C.'s only score. RB Fred Talley (33 carries, 110 yards) provided just enough punch for the Hogs, who sealed the game with a late field-goal block.
The Future Arkansas (3-3): Saturday vs. Auburn
South Carolina (5-1): Saturday vs. Vanderbilt

No. 11
Texas 45
at Stillwater, Okla.
Oklahoma State 17 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Chris Simms, QB, Texas
Rebounded from last week's disaster to throw five touchdown passes (and one pick) on 18-of-30 passing.
The Skinny A week after garnering no carries, Texas freshman RB Cedric Benson carried 31 times for 131 yards, gaining 92 during a first half in which the Horns rallied from down 10-0 to up 35-10. By establishing the run, UT was able to spread the field and let Simms pick his target, including Sloan Thomas (6 catches, 82 yards, 2 TDs).
The Future Texas (5-1): Saturday vs. No. 20 Colorado
Oklahoma State (2-4): Saturday at Iowa State

No. 12
Michigan 24
at Ann Arbor, Mich.
No. 17
Purdue 10
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Marquise Walker, WR, Michigan
Racked up 249 all-purpose yards (134 receiving, 3 rushing, 112 on punt returns).
The Skinny Purdue QB Brandon Hance (16-of-33, 194 yards, 1 TDs) made some plays but found himself constantly on the run, the victim of a Michigan D that notched seven sacks (two by Jake Frysinger ) and held the Boilers to 286 yards of offense. Meanwhile, Wolverines QB John Navarre (21-of-27, 241 yards) was highly effective.
The Future Michigan (5-1): Oct. 27 at Iowa
Purdue (4-1): Oct. 27 vs. Northwestern

No. 22
Maryland 20
at Atlanta
No. 15
Georgia Tech 17
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Nick Novak, PK, Maryland
Tied the score on a career-long 46-yard field goal as time expired, then nailed a 26-yarder in overtime.
The Skinny Maryland likely slammed the door on any Georgia Tech ACC title hopes, while the upstart Terrapins are alone up top. After Novak sent the game into overtime and put the Terps ahead in the extra period, Maryland recovered a Joe Burns fumble -- his second of the game and the sixth Jackets turnover -- to seal the victory.
The Future Maryland (6-0): Oct. 20 vs. Duke
Georgia Tech (4-2): Oct. 20 vs. N.C. State

No. 16
Clemson 45
at Raleigh, N.C.
N.C. State 37 Game preview
Game summary
The Star Woodrow Dantzler, QB, Clemson
Dantzler notched a dazzling 517 total yards (333 passing, 184 rushing) and 6 TDs (4 passing, 2 rushing).
The Skinny It was definitely Woody's show, as the senior set several school records and was a near-perfect 23-of-27, completing nine balls to WR Derrick Hamilton for 105 yards. Wolfpack QB Philip Rivers (22-of-44, 275 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT) made things interesting himself, and the Tigers had to survive 20 penalties to win.
The Future Clemson (4-1): Saturday vs. North Carolina
N.C. State (3-2): Saturday at No. 15 Georgia Tech

No. 18
BYU 24
at Albuquerque
New Mexico 20 Game recap
Game summary
The Star Brandon Doman, QB, BYU
His 14-yard option scramble on fourth and 11 kept the Cougars' game-winning drive alive.
The Plan The Cougars offense was not its 51-point-per-game self without star RB Luke Staley, who was held out with his academic eligibility coming under question. But Doman (22-of-41, 258 yards, 3 TDs) made his usual share of plays, and BYU's defense prevented TDs on two first-and-goal situations.
The Future BYU (6-0): Saturday vs. Air Force
New Mexico (2-4): Oct. 27 vs. Air Force

No. 19
Georgia 30
at Nashville, Tenn.

Vanderbilt 14
Game recap
Game summary
The Star David Greene, QB, Georgia
Budding freshman star surpasses 300 yards (305) for the second straight week, going 19-of-26 for two TDs.
The Skinny Georgia jumped to a 21-0 lead and coasted from there. Vandy QB Greg Zolman was 24-of-51 for 316 yards but managed only one TD against the Bulldogs' bend-but-don't-break defense. RB Musa Smith led Georgia with 98 yards and two TDs on just 13 carries.
The Future Georgia (4-1): Saturday vs. Kentucky
Vanderbilt (1-4): Saturday at No. 9 South Carolina

No. 20
Colorado 31
at Boulder, Colo.
No. 25
Texas A&M 21
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Kory Mossoni, LB, Colorado
With A&M driving to tie or win, he stripped Aggies QB Mark Farris, and Joey Johnson returned it for a TD.
The Skinny The Buffs were undaunted by an early 14-6 deficit, with QB Craig Ochs (14-of-28, 182 yards) connecting with Derek McCoy (5 catches, 113 yards) for the tying score just before half. Farris (30-of-49, 334 yards) had three TD passes, but his three turnovers, along with A&M's 42 rushing yards, were the difference.
The Future Colorado (5-1): Saturday at No. 11 Texas
Texas A&M (5-1): Saturday at No. 24 Kansas State

Wisconsin 20 at Columbus, Ohio
No. 21
Ohio State 17
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Nick Davis, WR, Wisconsin
Had six catches for 90 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown that brought UW back from down 17-7.
The Skinny The Badgers rallied from 17-0 to win on Mark Neuser's 33-yard FG with 2:10 left. The comeback began on a bad punt snap by OSU that allowed UW to score before the half. QB Brooks Bollinger (12-of-22, 202 yards) played a great second half, and the Badgers limited OSU to 38 rushing yards over the final 49 minutes.
The Future Wisconsin (4-3): Saturday at Illinois
Ohio State (3-2): Saturday vs. San Diego State

Washington St. 45 at Palo Alto, Calif.
No. 23
Stanford 39
Game recap
Game summary
>
The Star John Tippins, RB, Washington State
Fill-in for injured star Dave Minnich, most of his 75 yards came on crucial fourth-quarter drives.
The Skinny In clinching their first winning season in four years, the Cougars showed they can do it with defense, too, notching four sacks and three turnovers. QB Jason Gesser (15-of-28, 178 yards, 2 TDs) didn't put up his usual numbers but steered WSU out of 7-0 and 39-35 deficits.
The Future Washington State (6-0): Thursday vs. Montana State
Stanford (3-1): Saturday at No. 5 Oregon

Texas Tech 38 at Lubbock, Texas
No. 24
Kansas State 19
Game recap
Game summary
The Star Kliff Kingsbury, QB, Texas Tech
Finished 32 of 47 with four touchdowns and 409 yards -- the most passing yards ever allowed by the Wildcats.
The Skinny Bill Snyder's program has fallen on hard times. The loss was the Wildcats' third in a row and it kept K-State winless in the Big 12. Texas Tech won its first conference game and gave head coach Mike Leach his first win against a ranked team since he took over the program at the end of the 1999 season.
The Future Texas Tech (3-2): Saturday at No. 4 Nebraska
Kansas State (3-3): Saturday vs. No. 25 Texas A&M
