As expected, defense dominated the game. Nebraska punted on its first six possessions before finding a groove on offense. The Cornhuskers broke a 10-10 tie with a FG in the third and then put the game away on a 63-yard, reverse pass play back to Crouch, who scored. Oklahoma QB Jason White left the game in the second quarter after twisting his left knee. Nate Hybl took over and threw one TD pass but was mostly ineffective.

The Bruins finally woke up and scratched to within 31-28, but no closer. Heisman candidate DeShaun Foster rushed for 93 yards and one TD.

A FG moved the score to 17-0 in the third quarter; it was the first time Virginia Tech trailed in the second half this year. That’s seven straight wins for the Orangemen after opening with two losses.

Led by Derek Watson (83 yards on 19 rushes), the Gamecocks totaled 173 rushing yards. |

The win also kept the Seminoles' ACC record a perfect 39-0 at home since joining in 1992 and 12-0 against Maryland.
