| The Star |
Eric Crouch, QB, Nebraska
Wasn’t spectacular, but his 63-yard TD reception on a trick play in the fourth quarter was the difference.
|
| The Skinny |
As expected, defense dominated the game. Nebraska punted on its first six possessions before finding a groove on offense. The Cornhuskers broke a 10-10 tie with a FG in the third and then put the game away on a 63-yard, reverse pass play back to Crouch, who scored. Oklahoma QB Jason White left the game in the second quarter after twisting his left knee. Nate Hybl took over and threw one TD pass but was mostly ineffective.

Chris Lewis, QB, Stanford
In backup duty, Lewis overcame 3 INTs with 3 TDs and 253 yards on 20-of-29 passing.
|
| The Skinny |
UCLA got off to a slow start and never recovered, effectively dashing its Rose Bowl hopes. After an early UCLA TD, Stanford answered with four straight TDs – three of which were Lewis passes -- to take control of the game. The Bruins finally woke up and scratched to within 31-28, but no closer. Heisman candidate DeShaun Foster rushed for 93 yards and one TD.

Jamel Riddle, WR, Syracuse
Returned a first-quarter punt 51 yards for a TD, setting the tone of the game. Virginia Tech never recovered. |
| The Skinny |
Virginia Tech can forget all about the BCS and the Rose Bowl. Syracuse jumped to 14-0 lead after Riddle’s punt return and a 1-yard TD plunge by fullback James Mungro. A FG moved the score to 17-0 in the third quarter; it was the first time Virginia Tech trailed in the second half this year. That’s seven straight wins for the Orangemen after opening with two losses.

|
| The Skinny |
Florida made it hard on itself today. The Gators were penalized 12 times for 95 yards and turned over the ball four times. Grossman completed 77 percent of his passes, but even he was not blameless as he tossed two INTs. Florida did run the ball effectively, as Earnest Graham rushed for 133 yards on 22 attempts.

Rushed for 120 yards on 27 attempts and two TDs, including the game-winning plunge from a yard out.
|
| The Skinny |
South Carolina, as improved as it is, still can’t solve Tennessee. The Gamecocks have lost nine in a row to the Vols and are 0-11 at Neyland Stadium. Lou Holtz’s squad did move the ball well on the ground against Tennessee, which boasts the best run defense in the SEC. Led by Derek Watson (83 yards on 19 rushes), the Gamecocks totaled 173 rushing yards. |

What a game! The sophomore rushed for 285 yards on 26 carries and scored three TDs.
|
| The Skinny |
Now everyone in the Pac-10 has at least one loss. With the win, Oregon takes back the lead in the conference race. It was pretty much the Onterro Smith show, as he rumbled for TD runs of 8, 41 and 73 yards. Washington State QB Jason Gesser threw for 254 yards on 17-of-38 passing and one TD.

Maryland hung in there for a while, but in the end, FSU showed why it annually dominates the ACC. The win put the Seminoles back in the hunt for another conference, as three teams, FSU, Maryland and North Carolina all have one loss in the ACC. The win also kept the Seminoles' ACC record a perfect 39-0 at home since joining in 1992 and 12-0 against Maryland.

True freshman was truly superb. Threw for a 31-yard TD on his first collegiate pass and ran for a 32-yard TD.
|
| The Skinny |
After upsetting Florida two weeks ago, Auburn had a chance to lock up the SEC West. Instead the Tigers laid an egg. Arkansas has gone through three QBs this season, but they may have found their man in Jones, who came in an a back-up role. Auburn’s Carnell Williams ran for 177 yards and one TD, but QB Daniel Cobb two INTs were costly.
