  Recruiting Watch - Allen Wallace

Down to the last two official visit weekends, here's a glimpse of the power struggle for the nation's elite recruiting class.

History has taught us to be careful about making early ranking predictions. Anything can, and usually will, happen over the course of the final two weeks. Several major prospects have yet to make up their minds.

Letter of Intent Day is Feb. 7. We'll keep you updated with at least one updated top 10 before then. But for now ...

1) LSU: Three of SuperPrep's top seven prospects, TE Marcus Spears, WR Michael Clayton and DL Marquise Hill, are headed to Baton Rouge.

2) Michigan: Lloyd Carr has commitments from four SuperPrep Elite 50 prospects, but just lost WR Reggie Williams to WASHINGTON.

3) Oklahoma: Bob Stoops is America's most popular college coach, especially with Texas athletes like DL Tommie Harris, the state's top prospect.

4) Florida State: What's new? Bobby Bowden has a parking space here.

5) Texas: The pressure is on Mack Brown to win with so much Texas talent.

6) Washington: Call it the Rick Neuheisel factor. Junior college athletes love him too.

7) UCLA: The Bruins are still in the hunt for LB Michael Craven and DL Shaun Cody.

8) Nebraska: New talent at QB and OL will be groomed to dominate in the future.

9) Notre Dame: Coming on strong, but Irish fans aren't in the mood to like anything Bob Davie does now.

10) Virginia Tech: Beating PENN STATE for RB Kevin Shaheed Jones gives Hokies the edge over OHIO STATE.

For more detailed information on these and other players, visit www.superprep.com.
