Alex Potasi Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Oregon State have their eyes on Alex Potasi. TheInsiders.com

By Chris Fetters, DawgMan.com

When Alex Potasi and his L.A. Narbonne teammates went up against the brick wall of a defensive line known as Long Beach Poly, the No. 4 team in the nation according to Student Sports, it wasn't very pretty.

But that doesn't let the 6-6, 310-pound Potasi slow him down from his ultimate goal: a D-I scholarship.

"I never went up against Manuel Wright [the 6-7, 305-pound DL rated as the No. 12 player nationally by TheInsiders.com], but they are pretty good," said Potasi.

The senior, however, isn't exactly chopped liver himself, with 25 pancake blocks recorded through his first games.

As a junior, Potasi didn't play all year due to a torn ACL that kept him out, but that hasn't stopped colleges from stopping by to see him. He knows his chance to shine is now, and he has put in the time required.

"I've improved this year because I've worked harder than before," said Potasi.

His name has been in the recruiting news lately because of his on-again, off-again relationship with USC. After accepting the Trojans' offer, it appears their coaches are taking a second look at his 11th-grade injury.

"They are questioning me because of my knee," he said of the situation. "I really don't know right now, but I am keeping my eye on other colleges. I'm open to other colleges, but I really want to go to USC because they are close to home. Or UCLA."

The schools that are paying the L.A.-area player the most attention so far are Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Oregon State.

Washington and Colorado are Potasi's only other standing offers besides USC.
