Trent Edwards, the 6-4, 195 pound quarterback from Los Gatos (Calif.) and No. 17 prospect in the nation according to TheInsiders.com, has set up his first scheduled campus trip.
"I've set up my first official visit," Edwards said. "I'm going to Michigan on January 11th and I'm definitely going to visit Stanford and UCLA. Tennessee and Florida will also get a visit. Maybe Washington.
"I'd say that UCLA would be my leader. Iıve been down and visited UCLA. I met [UCLA quarterback] Cory Paus. We talked for quite a bit. Cory was real cool. He told me thereıs a great opportunity for a quarterback to come in and play early.
"Right now, I think myself and the Olsons (Ben and Drew) are waiting to see what each other does. I know both Ben and Drew have UCLA at or near the top of their list and so do I.
"Stanford is also very high on my list. You could probably say they are right there with UCLA. I will be going to the Stanford, UCLA game in two weeks.
"Michigan would be my third choice right now and Iım excited to visit. Michigan has one of the best programs in the country and they have a good quarterback situation. Iım very interested in Michigan."
Edwards threw for 2,529 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior while posting a state record 78.1 completion percentage. So far in 2001, Edwards has thrown for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns after six games.
