NCAA Football Recap (Air Force-Colorado St) Posted: Sun September 21, 1997 at 12:21 a.m EDT AIR FORCE 24, COLORADO ST 0Blane Morgan ran for one touchdown and threw for another as Air Force handed Colorado State its first shutout loss in 14 years, 24-0. The Falcons (4-0, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) took the lead midway through the second quarter on Morgan's three-yard run and extended it 3:25 into the third when Morgan connected with Matt Farmer for a 47-yard scoring strike. Alex Wright's 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter gave the Falcons a 17-0 lead and Charles Gilliam's two-yard run completed the scoring. Colorado State, which averaged 33.6 points in its first three games, was led by Damon Washington, who rushed for 155 yards on 16 carries. The Rams (2-2, 0-1 WAC) had not been shut out since a 34-0 loss to Hawaii in 1983. It was Colorado State's first home blanking since a 31-0 defeat to Arizona in 1973.
