NCAA Football Recap (Arizona-UCLA) Posted: Sat September 27, 1997 at 7:58 p.m. EDT UCLA 40, ARIZONA 27Skip Hicks ran for four touchdowns for the fourth time in his career and broke the all-time school record for TDs as UCLA built a 20-point lead and held on for a 40-27 victory over Arizona in a Pac-10 Conference game. Hicks, who rushed for 118 yards on 28 carries, scored on runs of eight, 19, four and three yards. His four-yard TD 17 seconds into the third quarter broke the UCLA career mark held by Gaston Green. Coming off a 66-3 rout of Texas two weeks ago, the Bruins (2-2, 1-1 Pac-10) scored the game's first 20 points. Hicks scored a pair of touchdowns in the first 5:23 and Chris Sailer added field goals of 36 and 42 yards to make it 20-0. Arizona (1-3, 0-2) closed within 23-17 at halftime, but fumbled on its first two possessions of the second half as UCLA exploded for 17 points in the third quarter. Cade McNown completed 18-of-24 passes for 266 yards for the Bruins, who have posted four straight home victories over Arizona and lead the series, 13-8-2. © 2003 SportsTicker Enterprises, LP
