Morehead State coasts to 49-14 rout of Davidson
MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Cyrus Strahm returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown to break a 7-7 tie and ignite a run of
42 consecutive points by Morehead State in a 49-14 rout of Davidson Saturday.
The Eagles (3-6, 2-4 Pioneer League) got two rushing touchdowns apiece from Rees Macshara and Blake Stanley. Stanley's first
touchdown, a 6-yarder, made it 21-7 early in the second quarter. Macshara, who totaled 126 yards rushing, had scored Morehead
State's first touchdown on a 15-yard run.
After an early interception, the Eagles' Zach Lewis completed 20 of 30 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns. Nine completions
went to Donte Sawyer for 128 yards.
For Davidson (1-8, 1-5), Jonathan Carkhuff became the Wildcats' all-time pass completions leader with 795. He was 22 of 41
for 177 yards. The record-breaker came on a 36-yard scoring pass to Lanny Funsten for Davidson's first touchdown. Carkhuff
also threw three interceptions.
