ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- No. 10 West Virginia looks for a rare win in the Sunshine State when it takes on Central Florida in its road opener Saturday.
The Mountaineers are 2-15 all-time in Florida, dating to a 21-13 loss to Miami in 1942. The Knights are 0-3 vs. ranked teams at home, so something's got to give.
Last week, West Virginia rolled to a 56-23 victory over East Carolina behind a record-setting performance from running back Kay-Jay Harris.
Harris, a 6-2, 245-pound senior, set a Big East Conference record and posted the 24th-best rushing performance in NCAA history with 337 yards on 25 carries against the Pirates. Harris also scored four touchdowns.
Heavily favored to win the Big East Conference, West Virginia moved into the top 10 in the latest poll.
UCF hopes to break an 0-14 all-time record against ranked opponents. That mark was extended by Saturday's 34-6 loss at Wisconsin.
Coach George O'Leary will make his UCF sideline debut. He missed the Wisconsin game to attend the funeral of his mother, Margaret, but placed telephone calls to the team and coaching staff before the game and at halftime.
The first meeting between the schools was last year in Morgantown, a 36-18 victory by West Virginia.
