COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Fisher DeBerry won his 150th game at Air Force as Dan Shaffer ran for three touchdowns in a season-opening 49-0 victory over Division I-AA Wofford.
DeBerry, a 1960 graduate of Wofford who is in his 20th season at Air Force, improved to 150-83-1.
Shaffer rushed for 64 yards on 12 carries as he returned to the lineup after suffering a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee in last year's opener against Northwestern.
Chance Harridge completed 5-of-9 yards passes for 61 yards for the Falcons and rushed for 92 yards and a score.
Air Force started slowly and had to punt on its first two possessions, but the Falcons got untracked on Sheffer's one-yard TD run in the first minute of the second period.
Wofford drove inside Air Force's 15 on the ensuing possession, but Trey Rodgers was stopped short of the first down on 4th-and-2 from the 12.
Adam Cole and Shaffer added two-yard TD runs to give the Falcons a 21-0 halftime lead. Air Force turned the contest into a rout, scoring on its first four possessions of the second half.
Wofford drove into Air Force territory twice in the first half, but was held to 54 total yards in the final 30 minutes.
Air Force held a 469-175 edge in total offense, including a 380-88 edge on the ground. J.R. McNair was Wofford's leading rusher with just 33 yards on 12 carries.
