LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Jared Lorenzen threw four touchdown passes as Kentucky bounced back from a season-opening loss to post a 37-6 win over Division I-AA Murray State.
Lorenzen completed 14-of-21 passes for 197 yards and became Kentucky's all-time passing leader with 8,566 yards, breaking the previous mark of 8,435 set by Tim Couch.
Kentucky (1-1) lost at home to Louisville last week, but was far better this week thanks to Lorenzen, who opened the scoring with an 11-yard TD pass to Derek Abney.
Lorenzen followed with a 60-yard TD pass to Chris Benard early in the second quarter to make it 14-0.
Murray State (1-1) botched a reverse on the ensuing kickoff and was stopped at its own 1-yard line, leading to a safety.
A 12-yard TD pass from Lorenzen to Glenn Holt made it 23-0 before the Racers cut it to 23-6 at halftime on a five-yard TD run by Chad Cook.
Lorenzen threw a 15-yard TD pass to Alexis Bwenge in the third quarter and Shane Body capped the scoring with a 27-yard TD run in the fourth.
Murray State quarterback Stewart Childress was sacked four times and completed 13-of-27 passes for 100 yards.
