TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- James Kilian threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns as Tulsa coasted to a 41-15 victory over Texas State in its home opener.
Kilian threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another in a 27-point third quarter that opened a 34-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Tight end Garrett Mills caught both passes and finished with three catches for 48 yards.
Kilian also rushed 10 times for 90 yards to lead a strong ground attack for Tulsa (1-2). Uril Parrish ran for 78 yards and Eric Richardson added 73 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the Golden Hurricane gained 275 yards on the ground.
Steven Dietz's 33-yard field goal 47 seconds into the second quarter staked Texas State (1-2) to a 3-0 lead. Richardson scored on a one-yard plunge to give Tulsa a 7-3 halftime edge.
Kilian's final touchdown pass - a 41-yard strike to Romby Bryant - made it 41-9 advantage with 7:17 to go.
Texas State fell to 4-10 all-time against Division I-A opponents. The Bobcats had a better showing than in their 72-8 season-opening loss at New Mexico.
