For the third time in the last four seasons, Virginia Tech completely dominated the Western Michigan, rebounding from a loss to top-ranked USC with a 63-0 victory.
The win was the 17th consecutive at home against a non-league opponent for the Hokies (1-1), who have outscored the Broncos, 124-0, since their first meeting in 2001.
Starting his 27th straight game, senior Bryan Randall completed 15-of-21 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Backup Sean Glennon added a pair of touchdown throws of 30-plus yards.
Freshman flanker Eddie Royal ran 11 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and caught a 35-yard TD pass from Randall 2:12 before halftime for a 27-0 advantage.
Defensive end Jason Landis returned a fumble 28 yards for a touchdown and cornerback Brandon Flowers added a 38-yard interception return for a TD for the defense, which forced three turnovers and held Western Michigan (1-1) to 163 total yards.
