COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Courtney Lewis and Texas A&M managed to make the most of limited opportunities against Kansas State.

Lewis scored three times with just 71 rushing yards to help the Aggies post a 42-30 victory over the Wildcats in a Big 12 Conference battle.

The Aggies (3-1, 1-0 Big 12 South) - who had 43 plays to 90 for the Wildcats - managed to score quickly three times in the first half. Terrance Murphy capped a three-play drive with a 29-yard touchdown toss from Reggie McNeal and Lewis crossed the goal line twice on drives of four and five plays.

Kansas State's Dylan Meier found Yamon Figurs for a 20-yard score just before halftime to cut the lead to 21-14. Meier was 29-for-45 for a career-high 246 yards and three touchdowns.

Darren Sproles' fumble in the third quarter led to a four-yard TD by Jason Carter just three plays later to give Texas A&M a 28-17 lead. Sproles was held to 66 yards rushing on 20 carries and caught six passes for 48 yards for Kansas State (2-2, 0-1 North).

Defensive back Japhus Brown ended the third quarter by intercepting Meier and returning it to the Kansas State 3. Lewis scored his third touchdown on the next play.

Lewis is the first Aggie with 17 rushing TDs in his first 15 games.

Kansas State cut the lead to 35-30 when Meier tossed a pair of TDs to Jermaine Moreira in the fourth. But McNeal put the game away with a career-best 62-yard touchdown run with 37 seconds remaining.

Texas A&M has won the last four meetings.
