GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Chris Leak gave Florida coach Ron Zook a nice going-away present.
Leak threw six touchdown passes - one shy of a school record - as the Gators routed Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina, 48-14, in Zook's home finale
The embattled Zook, who was allowed to finish the season after being fired last month, will coach his last game for the Gators next week at Florida State.
The win over South Carolina allowed Florida (6-4, 4-4 SEC East) to become bowl eligible for the 14th straight season.
Leak completed 18-of-31 passes for 319 yards, finding Ciatrick Fason, Chad Jackson, Dallas Baker, Andre Caldwell and Tate Casey for touchdowns. Casey, a freshman tight end, caught two TD passes.
The Gators also got two field goals from Matt Leach as they won their 16th straight homecoming game.
Florida applied relentless pressure on South Carolina quarterback Syvelle Newton, who completed just 7-of-17 passes for 63 yards. He also threw three interceptions and was sacked three times.
Leak became the first Florida quarterback to throw six TDs in a game since Danny Wuerffel in 1996 against Alabama.
The Gators scored 48 straight points after Gonzie Gray's 26-yard TD run gave South Carolina (6-4, 4-4 East) a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the first quarter.
