PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Derek Anderson had a big first half and it was just enough for Oregon State.
Anderson threw three first-half touchdown passes and the Beavers kept alive their bowl hopes with a 24-19 Pac-10 Conference victory over Stanford.
Oregon State (5-5, 4-3) took a 7-0 lead with 2:44 left in the first quarter when Anderson connected with Dwight Wright for a 43-yard TD pass. He hit Mike Hass and Joe Newton with scoring strikes in the second as the Beavers opened up a 21-3 lead at the half.
Stanford (4-6, 2-5) outscored Oregon State 16-3 in the second half but dropped its fourth straight and was eliminated from bowl consideration.
Redshirt freshman T.C. Ostrander threw a pair of second-half TD passes and Michael Sgroi kicked a 50-yard field goal for the Cardinal.
Ostrander, who completed 17-of-45 passes for 247 yards, connected with Evan Moore for a 26-yard TD pass with just over seven minutes to play to pull the Cardinal with 21-19. Ostrander's two-point conversion pass fell incomplete.
Oregon State's Alexis Serna capped the scoring with a 37-yard field goal with 1:23 remaining.
Oregon State has won four of its last five with its only loss in that span a hard-fought 28-20 setback to No. 1 Southern California. The Beavers have to beat archrival Oregon next week to become eligible for a bowl.
Anderson completed 29-of-42 passes for 334 yards but was intercepted four times and sacked four times.
