Gartrell Johnson
scored on a 10-yard run with nine seconds left, and
John Mosure
returned a fumble seven yards on the ensuing kickoff as Colorado State defeated UNLV 41-28 on Saturday.
Colorado State (3-2, 1-0 Mountain West Conference) has beaten the Rebels six straight times, last losing to them on Nov. 30,
2002. The loss was the 17th consecutive conference road loss for UNLV (3-3, 0-2).
Johnson, who rushed for 191 yards on 33 carries and scored three touchdowns, also scored on a two-point conversion after his
touchdown before Mosure's fumble return.
Billy Farris
completed 15-of-21 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown.
Rashaun Greer
caught eight passes for 211 yards and his first career TD.
Omar Clayton
was 14-for-26 passing for 173 yards and two touchdowns for UNLV.
Frank Summers
ran for 109 yards on 20 carries.
The Rams' quick scores came after UNLV had erased a 13-point deficit with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to take a one-point
lead. Trailing 27-14, the Rebels scored on a 1-yard dive by Summers with 12:56 left, forced a punt and drove 94 yards on seven
plays to tie on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Clayton to

's PAT gave the Rebels a 28-27 lead with 6:05 left.
Colorado State took over on its 20 and gave the ball to Johnson eight times for 39 yards of the drive to get the ball to the
UNLV 10. Johnson burst up the middle on his ninth carry of the drive to reach the end zone and then tacked on the two-point
conversion.
In the first quarter, the Rebels went ahead 14-3, cashing in on two Colorado State mistakes after
Jason Smith
kicked a 24-yard field goal for the Rams.
Klint Kubiak
's end zone interception was wiped out by a roughing the passer penalty and three plays later,
Ryan Wolfe
ran around left end for 13-yard touchdown.
Chris Brogdon
's recovery of a fumble by Mosure on the kickoff gave the Rebels the ball at the Colorado State 9. Clayton found
Casey Flair
in the back of the end zone on a 3-yard pass with 3:29 left.
Johnson's two, 3-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter put Colorado State ahead 17-14 at the half. The second score with
2:47 remaining in the quarter was set up by a 62-yard pass from Farris to Greer that got the ball to the UNLV 3.
Defensive end
Tommie Hill
batted up and intercepted Clayton's pass early in the third quarter and returned it 13 yards to the UNLV 24. Colorado State
settled for a 29-yard field goal by Smith to increase Colorado State's lead to 20-14.
Ben Jacke missed a 54-yard field goal for UNLV. Greer got behind the Rebels secondary on a 46-yard TD pass from Farris to
make it 27-14 with 2:22 left in the third quarter.
