LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Chris Williams carried an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown as he propelled New Mexico State to a 45-10 win over Alcorn State in Aggie Memorial on Saturday.

Williams caught 6 passes for 128 yards receiving, including an 80-yard TD-pass in the second quarter, as NMSU improved to 2-2 on the season. Alcorn State dropped to 1-5 overall, 0-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The Aggies controlled the scoreboard with an opening drive that lasted less than a minute and ended with a 57-yard TD run by Marquell Colston and an extra point by Kyle Hughes .

NMSU went on to dominate the offensive battle with 571 total yards compared to 195 by Alcorn State.

Timothy Buckley went 11-for-21 for 141 yards in the first half before Tony Hobson , Jr. stepped into the pocket for the Braves. Hobson threw for 67 yards and completed 9-of-18 attempts.

Holbrook anchored the Aggies through three quarters with 270 yards passing on 20-of-25 attempts, and J.J. McDermott finished the game with 81 yards passing.
