Win, and they're in Enforcers earn final XFL playoff spot
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Enforcers defeated the Orlando Rage 23-6 on Sunday night to earn the final playoff spot in the inaugural XFL season. Kevin McDougal completed 13 of 20 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown, and also ran for another to lead the Enforcers past the XFL's best team. Despite starting the season 0-4, the Enforcers earned second place in the Eastern Division with a 5-5 record. The Rage, 8-2, had already clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs before the game started. After entering halftime with a 13-point lead, McDougal capped a 9-play, 72-yard drive with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Bailey on the Enforcers first second-half series to put Chicago ahead 20-0. McDougal also ran for 34 yards. Andy Crosland kicked field goals of 19 and 42 yards in the first quarter, and added a 32-yard field goal in the fourth, after each of Orlando's three turnovers. Chicago's John Avery, the XFL's leading rusher, was bothered by a sore hamstring and rushed for 41 yards in 10 carries. But he still led the league in rushing with 800 yards this season. Brian Kucklick connected with Dialleo Burks for a 51-yard touchdown pass with time running out in the third quarter for Orlando's only score of the game. He completed 10 of 18 for 103 yards and one touchdown in the losing effort.
