Former WR Fryar joins NFL Preview
NEW YORK (AP) -- Irving Fryar joined CNN as an analyst for its weekly studio show NFL Preview. Fryar retired after a 17-year career in which he became the fifth-leading receiver in NFL history with 851 catches for the Patriots, Dolphins, Eagles and Redskins. He led the Redskins with five touchdown receptions last season. "I'm elated about this opportunity to jump into TV. After playing for so long, I know I can do this just as well," Fryar said.
Visser will join Howard David and Boomer Esiason occasionally for Monday NFL broadcasts this season. May, who quit playing in 1993, has worked at CBS the past three years. He won two Super Bowls as an offensive lineman with the Redskins. Visser was jettisoned by ABC-TV's Monday Night Football before last season, as was Esiason, who was hired by Westwood One last July. Visser began her sports journalism career at the Boston Globe in 1974, joined CBS Sports in 1984, then worked nearly seven years for ABC before returning to CBS last year.
