DENVER (AP) -- Everyone is waiting for Michael Jordan to make his retirement decision. In less than a month, it will be John Elway's turn. Again.

Elway, 38, spent several months pondering his future after the Denver Broncos won their first Super Bowl title last January. He returned, saying this would be his 16th and final season, but that is subject to change.

"My thoughts haven't changed a whole lot," Elway said Sunday. "But I'm not going to make any snap judgments. I am going to sit down, talk to my wife and kids, see how I feel physically and go from there."

Elway missed all or parts of six games because of injuries this season, but he has remained healthy enough to play the past seven games, including Saturday's 38-3 playoff victory over Miami.

He even proved he still has some mobility, scrambling 11 yards on a designed bootleg on third-and-2 early in the third quarter.

"It really was a surprise," Elway said. "I think I was probably as shocked as anyone when I heard it was going into the game plan. I can go about 10-15 yards, and after that (my legs) are shot."

Elway acknowledged that next Sunday's AFC Championship game against the New York Jets could be his final game at Mile High Stadium. Then again, if the Broncos win another Super Bowl, he could come back for one more encore.

When it was pointed out that he could retire a champion, Elway played devil's advocate.

"Well, then [advice givers] will use the other one and say that, 'Well, nobody's ever won three in a row,'" he said. "So there's a lot of positives on both sides."
