Pat Kirwan has spent many a draft in the war room as an NFL scout and assistant personnel director. Check back throughout the day as he provides us pick-by-pick analysis.

1. Cleveland Browns | Kevin Johnson | WR | Syracuse
Johnson is a real good deep threat who coach Chris Palmer views in much the same way as he did Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell when he was in Jacksonville.
2. Cincinnati Bengals | Charles Fisher | DB | West Virginia
The guy only played one year at West Virginia and it's a real question whether he'll be able to step in and start at cornerback in the NFL.
3. Carolina Panthers | Chris Terry | T | Georgia
He's a very good right tackle who most coaches think has the athleticism to switch to left, so he'll probably start as a rookie in Carolina.
4. Philadelphia Eagles | Barry Gardner | LB | Northwestern
Coaches love Barry because he's bright, he can disengage and get out from under a blocker, and even though he played middle linebacker at Northwestern, he should be able to switch to "Will" in the pros. If Philadelphia didn't take him there, someone was poised to take him shortly thereafter.
5. Indianapolis Colts | Mike Peterson | LB | Florida
People who originally went down to Florida to scout Johnny Rutledge ended up finding this guy, who could start as a rookie.
6. Washington Redskins | Jon Jansen | T | Michigan
I talked to one coach who thinks Jansen has great pass blocking skills and should make a very good right tackle. Teams don't like taking right tackles any higher than right around here.
7. Carolina Panthers | Mike Rucker | DE | Nebraska
He's an undersized guy who could have trouble if they play him to the tight end side. It really calls to how few good, big defensive linemen there are in the draft.
8. Miami Dolphins | James Johnson | RB | Mississippi State
You see with this pick that Jimmy Johnson is trying to install a power running game there, which is the exact opposite of last year with Avery, who was more of a finesse back.
9. Oakland Raiders | Tony Bryant | DE | Florida State
A bit of a risk here. He is not as productive as his measurables say he should be, and another guy where you have to watch his size.
10. St. Louis Rams | Dre Bly | CB | North Carolina
Last summer he was considered the No. 1 cornerback but was beat deep on a number of balls last year yet decided to come out and dropped to the seventh cornerback. St. Louis worked him out, though, and likes him a lot.
11. Atlanta Falcons | Reginald Kelly | TE | Mississippi State
Kelly is an excellent blocking tight end, whereas O.J. Santiago is more of a recieving tight end. Now they have the two tight ends you look for.
12. Miami Dolphins | Rob Konrad | RB | Syracuse
Now they've drafted two big running backs, which is a bit unusual. But he's a guy who I've cited as being able to make a difference as a rookie, a la Mike Alstott. You're looking at almost 500 pounds of running back coming at you!
13. Minnesota Vikings | Jimmy Kleinsasser | TE | North Dakota
1 He's the most complete tight end in the draft. People feel he's the best balance of blocking and receiving. They lost Hunter Goodwin in free agency and obviously felt they had a chance to get this kid.
14. Cleveland Browns | Rahim Abdullah | LB | Clemson
He's a "Sam" linebacker who plays over the tight end. He faded a little bit, apparently due to attitude, in January and February. He's 6-foot-6 and looks a little awkward in workouts but an excellent pick for mid-second round.
15. New England Patriots | Kevin Faulk | RB | LSU
He's a third-down back who's been compared a little bit to Eric Metcalf. He brings a dimension that team needs but it will be interesting to see if, in a later round, they go for a big back.
16. Green Bay Packers | Fred Vinson | CB | Vanderbilt
Vinson is a good cover corner, he comes from playing man to man on every down. Ron Wolf said after the Antwawn Edwards pick he would go corner again, and he did. In a division with the Vikings, Wolf knows he needs cover corners.
17. Chicago Bears | Russell Davis | DT | North Carolina
Davis played all last year with a bad ankle and did not play exceptionally well in the Senior Bowl, but most people after doing some investigations realized he'll play much better with a healthy ankle.
18. New York Giants | Joe Montgomery | RB | Ohio State
They let Tyrone Wheatley go, and Gary Brown is getting up there, so they need to add running backs to the roster. Montgomery is a risk, not really coming on until the very end of his senior year, but he had a good Sugar Bowl and great East-West Shrine game that impressed scouts.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Shaun King | QB | Tulane
This guy was undefeated as a college senior, but probably fell this low because of his body. He gives them another dimension as a scrambler. He'll be a nice fit playing for Tony Dungy, he doesn't have to start right away.
20. Arizona Cardinals | Johnny Rutledge | LB | Florida
Rutledge is a middle linebacker type. He'll start out as a special teams player in Arizona and maybe move into the linebacker rotation if they can't sign Jamir Miller.
21. Tennessee Titans | John Thornton | DT | West Virginia
Earlier in January, people were talking about him as a first-round pick. He's listed at 295 pounds but doesn't always play like he's 295. Tennessee wants to be able to rotate linemen and he'll certainly be part of that rotation.
22. Buffalo Bills | Peerless Price | WR | Tennessee
Some who watched him in college will wonder why Peerless fell this low, but you look for guys who look natural snatching the ball, and he's often a little awkward. He's somewhat inconsistent, had big games and bad games.
23. Kansas City Chiefs | Mike Cloud | RB | Boston College
Mike Cloud is a lot like Adrian Murrell, a change of direction back. The running back job is wide open in Kansas City, he has a chance to win the starting job.
24. Dallas Cowboys | Solomon Page | T | West Virginia
Solomon Page should have stayed in school. Had he stayed an extra year he would have been a first rounder next year. Some question his toughness; he may sit a year or two.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars | Larry Smith | DT | Florida State
Big inside tackles are hard to find, and he's 6-4, 288 pounds. The Jaguars are glad to get him.
26. New York Jets | Randy Thomas | G | Mississippi State
He's a real good athlete known for his pulling, trapping scheme ability. He's known for his power running game -- that's where he's got to work to do, and I wonder whether he's really ready for handling the Bill Parcells way.
27. Denver Broncos | Montae Reagor | DE | Texas Tech
Denver is looking for good pass rushers, and Reagor will be a situation pass rusher for them to start out.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers | Scott Shields | S | Weber State
The Steelers lost Darrin Perry and Carnell Lake to free agency and have not signed anyone in free agency, so they're counting on the draft. That's a lot of responsibility for kid who essentially came out of nowhere, but Pittsburgh thinks he can be a true strong safety.
29. San Diego Chargers | Jermaine Fazannde | FB | Oklahoma
He's a decent inside runner like a lot of Oklahoma kids, but he's a slow kid. He's more of a blocking back who has some running skills. He's built more like a Brad Baxter.
30. Denver Broncos | Lennie Friedman | G | Duke
Friedman had a good Senior Bowl week, showed real versatility. He'll fit into the Denver scheme of doing things. He can block at the linebacker real well, and he's a very, very competitive kid.
