Stephen Dunn/Allsport
Irvin decided that he had done all he could at Michigan State and he entered the draft a year early. Versatility may be his best quality as he shows excellent overall run skills, good hands out of the backfield and the ability to develop into a return specialist. He is a "quicker than fast" type player and he has excellent overall balance and vision and displays some of the best overall run instincts in this group of backs. He has no wasted motion, hits the hole with authority and seems to always make the right moves. He has good durability and surprisingly good power and will fight for the extra yard. He is a little bit of a weaver type runner that will not break a lot of long runs, but he is a guy that could give a NFL team a lot of carries and could develop into a versatile workhorse type back. His skills tend to grow on you and this is a guy that could creep up the charts by draft day.
