Chris Samuels Chris Samuels thinks he can add a little nastiness to the Redskins' high-powered attack.

Alabama offensive tackle Chris Samuels was selected No. 3 by Washington Redskins in the first round of the NFL Draft.'s Mark Morgan caught up with Samuels after he was drafted Saturday.

Mark Morgan: What does it mean to you that the team picked you as the first offensive lineman in this draft? They selected you, showed faith in you, they want to plug you into that offensive line as a part of a very, very explosive offense. What does that mean to you?

Chris Samuels: It means a lot to me. I'm truly blessed just to be in this situation. I just want to get there and just do my thing. Hopefully I can help the guys out a lot down there and hopefully we can get to the Super Bowl.

Morgan: The No. 3 pick was on the Redskins acquired in the offseason. What do you think they liked in you? What did they tell you that they saw in your play that made them chose you No. 3?

Samuels: Well, I think I have a little nastiness about me, but I think overall the athletic ability that I was blessed with.

Morgan: Speaking of athletic ability, another gentleman chosen No. 2, LaVar Arrington, will be your teammate. What do you know about him and the type of impact that he can have with the Redskins?

Samuels: All my senior season, his junior season, they showed LaVar on TV and he was making plays like crazy. He's a great guy. All week up here he's been teasing with me: "What's up teammate? What's up teammate?" So he knew something. I had a feeling, but I wasn't sure about it. But he's a great guy and I'm looking forward to playing with him.

Morgan: Arrington is going to a side of the ball where they really need help, you are going to an offense that scored a ton of points last year. Will that make your transition a little easier, in terms of going where you can kind of just help out, as opposed to being expected to do too much?

Samuels: Well I don't think it will make it easy, because I have to get in there and work hard just like everybody else. But I think I can help the team out a lot though.

Morgan: Congratulations and good luck next year.

Samuels: Thank you, I appreciate it.
