CNN/Sports Illustrated analyst Ron Meyer, a former NFL head coach, broke down Super Bowl XXXIV for CNNSI.com users as the game unfolded. Following is a transcript of Meyer's analysis:

Additional thoughts
End of game Rams 23, Titans 16
This is going to be a field day for second guessers. There were a ton of what-ifs like the two-point try after the first Titans TD as well as why the defensive back was turned around on press coverage late in the game, allowing a 73-yard TD bomb.
Final thoughts
End of game Rams 23, Titans 16
This was a great Super Bowl. It definitely had everything. It had great QB play from Steve McNair who was unbelievable and from Kurt Warner, who will definitely be MVP after throwing for more than 400 yards. There was great running by Eddie George and great blocking up front by both teams to allow Warner, George and McNair to go wild. And one thing that was overlooked was the great special teams play, especially by the Rams. They had a couple of solid returns, they blocked a field goal and nearly blocked a punt. That could've been the difference in the game.
Flag football
0:26 left 4th quarter Rams 23, Titans 16
St. Louis is letting Tennessee back into the game with a number of bad offsides and facemask penalties. Not only does it give the Titans free yardage and downs, it also stops the clock in key situations, especially with one timeout left by the Titans.
Burned
1:55 left, 4th quarter Rams 23, Titans 16
Kurt Warner exposed Anthony Dorsett's side of the field on the long bomb TD to Isaac Bruce. However, how is Denard Walker blind to the ball on 3-deep coverage?
Coulda, shoulda, woulda
2:15 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 16
If the Titans had just kicked the extra point after the first Eddie George TD, this field goal by Al Del Greco would've given the Titans the lead.
Eddie's the man
6:30 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 13
All the fans from Tennessee that drove in congregating in the lobby of the CNN Center are chanting "Eddie, Eddie" knowing that he's the reason why the Titans have turned the game around in the second half. Of course, Steve McNair is the X-factor with his great scrambles.
Eddie is money
7:21 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 13
Eddie George is starting to take over the game thanks to some running. It looks like his diet/fitness program has helped him get stronger in the second part of the season.
Clock management
8:33 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 6
After the Titans completed a long pass play, they need to know the 40-second clock starts right away. The team needs to be more disciplined to know to call a play right away -- it beats taking a timeout.
Sneaky QB
10:41 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 6
Steve McNair was very smart on fourth and short to pretend like he's drawing the Rams offsides and then snapping the ball at the last second while St. Louis was pointing out Tennessee players jumping early. It could be the play of the game because if the Titans don't get it, the game could be over.
Going away from the norm
14:30 left, 4th quarter Rams 16, Titans 6
Sometimes coaches get too fancy in the big game, like the Rams seemed to do last week against the Bucs. The Titans were guilty of the same thing here, having Steve McNair throw for three straight plays in the first half instead of running with what got you there -- Eddie George.
Go for one
0:10 left, 3rd quarter Rams 16, Titans 6
While the Eddie George TD helped out the Titans, they should have gone for the extra point and not two. If they got the extra point, the Titans still could win with a TD and extra point. Now a TD and extra point just ties the game. It could be a momentum shifter.
Bad timing
0:17 left, 3rd quarter Rams 16, Titans 0
The Titans made a bad decision taking a timeout at the 1 on second down. They should've stuck with the play and went with it since they have three chances to score a TD. They'll need to score a TD here, plus play good defense since the Titans will probably have just three more possessions in the fourth quarter.
Second-string safeties
7:00 left, 3rd quarter Rams 16, Titans 0
With Blaine Bishop now out of the game, the Titans have to go with two backups -- Perry Phenix and Anthony Dorsett. Dorsett will be calling the plays, probably, but Kurt Warner can and will take advantage of that.
Grace under pressure
9:20 left, 3rd quarter Rams 9, Titans 0
Kurt Warner has plenty of poise in the pocket. Even with plenty of Titans around him, he stepped up and made the first down. If it were Jeff George there, it would've been a phantom sack.
Hurting Titans
Halftime Rams 9, Titans 0
It looks like injuries have affected the Titans much more than people let on. The loss of Yancey Thigpen has hurt the passing game as the other receivers looked out of sync and very tentative. Thus, they can't come up with big catches. Plus, the loss of Marcus Robertson has hurt the pass defense as Anthony Dorsett has been exploited.
Getting defensive
3:00 left, 2nd quarter Rams 6, Titans 0
If the Titans are going to win, they need to make a score defensively. The Rams offense are struggling in the red zone, but the defense has been dominating so far.
Good news, bad news
4:00 left, 2nd quarter Rams 6, Titans 0
The Rams should be concerned that they've had the ball in scoring position four times and have just six points. The coaching staff should be concerned that they're showing all of their weapons early and that they may not have anything left later on. It's almost like punching yourself out in the first and second rounds. However, they should be happy that they are moving the ball down the field pretty well, using the pass effectively.
Passing fancy
6:30 left, 2nd quarter Rams 3, Titans 0
The Rams aren't going to run much against the pressing Titans defense. Kurt Warner has started each of his drives with a pass. However, Warner is so fearless that he'll find a way to get the plays through.
First-quarter thoughts
End of first quarter Rams 3, Titans 0
Kurt Warner is still running on all cylinders like he has all season. He's been very accurate throwing the ball, like the end route to Torry Holt and the swing pass to Marshall Faulk. However, the special teams woes have made this game look rather ugly early on.
Titans try for too much
6:45 left, 1st quarter Rams 0, Titans 0
The chances of converting a 3rd and 13 is under 10 percent. Instead of throwing down the field for some extra yardage, so you run a draw and get better field position for an accurate, but not strong legged kicker. Thus, Al Del Greco tried but missed a 48-yard field goal.
Business as usual
9:30 left, 1st quarter Rams 0, Titans 0
Despite the botched field goal attempt, the Rams picked up where they left off on offense. They passed the ball a lot and ran the ball just three times.
Not-so special teams
9:45 left, 1st quarter Rams 0, Titans 0
The first tip of the iceberg is special teams. You expect Jeff Wilkins to have some problems, but not holder Mike Horan. This could be a big momentum swing early on in the game, considering some of the problems from the Rams' kicking game this year.
Kearse vs. Faulk
9:53 left, 1st quarter Rams 0, Titans 0
On full pressure, don't be surprised to see Jevon Kearse on Marshall Faulk. It may not be as much of an overmatch as you think, though.
Opening kickoff thoughts
14:00 left, 1st quarter Rams 0, Titans 0
Why would Craig Hentrich kick off straight down the middle to the Rams' best return Tony Horne? They probably should have angled the kick.
Are you ready for some football?
25 minutes to Rams 0, Titans 0
If the game is as good as the great opening to the show, we'll be in for a good time. The long version of "Are You Ready for Some Football?" was amazing.
