ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) -- Running backs took center stage during the wild-card weekend, with unheralded Robert Smith leading the way for the Vikings.

Smith, finally healed after double hernia surgery, carried the ball 28 times for 140 yards in the Vikings' victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Eddie George also proved his worth as a workhorse for the Titans, rushing for 106 yards on 29 carries as Tennessee squeaked by the Buffalo Bills in the wildest game of the weekend.

Last, but not least, Stephen Davis scored two touchdowns and gained 119 on 15 carries for the Washington Redskins before leaving with a sprained knee before halftime in their romp over the Detroit Lions.

The top thrower of the weekend, in terms of touchdown passes, was Jeff George. The Viking signal-caller threw for three touchdowns and connected on 12 of 25 attempts, leading the Minnesota Vikings to victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Troy Aikman had the highest yardage total -- 286 -- in a losing cause for the Cowboys. He connected on 22 of 38 attempts and was intercepted once.

The top receiver was Raghib Ismail, who caught eight passes for 163 yards for the Cowboys in a losing cause. Randy Moss of the Vikings caught five passes for 127 yards and touchdown against the Cowboys.
