CNNSI.com's 2001 NFL Mock Draft

Michael Vick Michael Vick has remained atop CNNSI.com's Mock Draft since he declared in January. AP

By Jon A. Dolezar, CNNSI.com

The San Diego Chargers were obviously worried enough by Michael Vick's contract demands that they decided to look elsewhere. And Dan Reeves and his superstar-needy team in Atlanta were willing trade partners, apparently not deterred by the mega-deal that Vick is sure to command.

From the Chargers' perspective the deal makes sense, considering that TCU running back LaDainian Tomlinson is the top-rated player on San Diego's draft board anyway, and now the Chargers will likely be able to select him at the fifth position. San Diego also added a valuable pick early in the third round and a second-rounder in next year's draft, in addition to dangerous return specialist/wide receiver Tim Dwight.

We have a lot to live up to after last year's stellar performance in our final Mock Draft before the 2000 NFL Draft. Nailing 10 of the first 11 picks is impressive, indeed, and I suspect that the uncertainty in this year's top 10 will make duplicating that nearly impossible.

Our NFL experts had their say this week, so check out how Peter King, Pat Kirwan and Don Banks expect Saturday's first round to shake down.

Here is our updated Mock Draft. Feel free to compare it to our Mock Draft from earlier this month, as well as user Reactions.
